Founder Spotlight: Nyene Baker’s Journey From Incarceration to Impact

Long before Visionary Philanthropy Group became a statewide leader in youth and reentry programming, there was just one man with a vision: Nyene Baker.

Raised in Trenton, Baker’s early life was marked by hardship and incarceration. But what could have ended his story became the turning point that redefined it. Through faith, mentorship, and relentless self-education, he rebuilt his life—determined to help others find a pathway forward.

In 2018, he founded Visionary Philanthropy Group, a nonprofit built on belief in new beginnings. Today, VPG serves more than 7,000 individuals, equipping purpose-driven youth and returning citizens with tools for confidence, leadership, and opportunity.

Nyene’s journey reminds us that redemption is powerful—but purpose is even stronger.
